JPEGMAFIA is one of the most intriguing artists in the experimental hip-hop genre. If you pay attention to hip-hop outside the top 40 you have likely listened to Peggy. It's impossible to not see his work if you're listening to experimental hip-hop with constant recommendations on streaming services as well as topping Rate Your Music critic charts.
JPEGMAFIA has emerged from the internet under various aliases, including Devon Hendryx, DJ Snitch Bitch, Peanut Butta Thug, and Peggy + Hendryx. Now JPEGMAFIA is making waves in the mainstream garnering millions of streams across various platforms.
Given this background, our expectations were high for his live performance. This is one of those dream-like scenarios where I am working doing review coverage and have access to the entire set. The venue wasn't massive either - meaning we were within arms reach of Peggy for a large portion of the set.
In addition to the access @ Ethereal, we're JPEGMAFIA fans. I've never seen him in person before and my expectations were high. With these high hopes, JPEGMAFIA delivered on all fronts giving YYC one of the best rap shows of the year.
The energy JPEGMAFIA brings to the stage is hard to illustrate without seeing it firsthand. Seeing so many shows over the years, you can see when an artist isn't giving it their all. JPEGMAFIA goes all out, holding nothing back, giving his all throughout every song.
Even after the performance, PEGGY met with hundreds of fans, taking photos and talking to them. We were beyond blown away by the concert and the fan interaction post-event.
JPEGMAFIA is a must-see artist, and we endorse any of our readers to see him live.
