Tell us about Funeral.
FUNERAL
I've been making beats since like, 2014.
I've been consistently rapping/singing since 2018. I'm really just a guy making music at this point. I try not to let the fact that I'm kind of popular be anything crazier than it is. I just stay at the crib making beats, recording songs and playing my PS5 lol.
My day to day life is pretty normal, the only thing that differentiates me from anyone else is that I get to live off making music.

Talk to us about your (2022) EP, 'eviscerated.'
FUNERAL
So the idea for my album 'eviscerated' really just came from me taking hella inspiration from artists like Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely and Carti.
I liked the sound a lot and the whole scene of kids on soundcloud who are inspired by that sound. I wanted to make a project that was obviously inspired by that sound, but also something that was obviously my own sound as well.
Like most of my projects, I make the beats over a few months and then usually record all the songs I want for the project in like 1-2 months. I had a lot of fun with that album fr. The reception was also really crazy to me, I couldn't believe so many people enjoyed it that much.
That album definitely introduced me to new ears for sure, very grateful.
Oh, also I came up with the album title like 5 minutes before announcing it lmao.

The sound of this project really stood out on our first listen. Tell us a bit about the production that went into it.
FUNERAL
A lot of the production was inspired by TRGC, CMG and Zayskillz.
Those producers had a lot to do with the albums I was listening to during my time I was producing for 'eviscerated'. I think the production on Autumn's album 'Antagonist' definitely helped me shape my own album towards the end.

You're bilingual in Spanish, and you've posted several Spanish snippets to your socials.
Tell us about some of your favourite Spanish artists / how your Spanish background impacts the type of music you release?
FUNERAL
A lot of my favourite Spanish artists are from when I was growing up. Artists like Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee, Plan B and Luny Tunes. Old reggaeton is a favorite of mine. The type of reggaeton that was being made back then was really dark sounding and a lot of my music is very dark as well.
I love dark evil sounding production and they had that sound on lock back in the day. Definitely something I always go back to for inspiration to this day.

Tell us about your most recent Soundcloud exclusive track titled, '23 FREESTYLE.'
FUNERAL
'23 FREESTYLE' was made in like an hour or so.
Originally it was just going to be a random song for my side account, but I made it while going into December 31st (my birthday). So I figured I'd just name it after the age I just turned and drop it on my main account. It's also a type beat, one of those rare occasions that I get on production that isn't my own.

Can you preview us on any new projects you have going on?
FUNERAL
I've been showing hella snippets of the new project on Instagram live.
The reception so far has been great. People are really rocking with the sound. I recently posted on Instagram and attached a snippet of one of the songs from the tape coming out in a few months.

Talk to us about these two photos.
FUNERAL
(001) - Alright so in this first pic, me and my shorty were lining up all my plushes I have, so we could really get an idea of how many I have. All the colors looked really cool and she had the idea to take a picture since it looked really cool.
(002) - In this second picture, I had my RPG-7 out so I could take a few pictures with it and again, my shorty had another idea. She said I should pick up our dogs while holding the rpg. I figured it would look really cool since it was mixing something deadly as an RPG-7 with something cute like our puppies.

What's next for Funeral?
FUNERAL
So currently I am attempting to finish my next album.
All I can really say at the moment about that project is that the sound of it is a lot more sad and dark than my other stuff.
My voice is a tiny bit deeper on these songs. This album is pretty good for the cold weather. Oh also I plan to do a few more shows this year.
Currently I have shows planned for Atlanta on March 7th and Brooklyn on April 22nd. Other than that my plans are to pretty much drop hella music and little projects.
I also wanna try my best to drop some music videos.
